how to check printer status in linux

[username@hostname ~]$ lpstat -p
printer apcheck is idle.  enabled since Sun 03 Mar 2013 04:02:09 AM EST
printer HP4 is idle.  enabled since Sun 03 Mar 2013 04:02:09 AM EST
printer HP5 is idle.  enabled since Sun 03 Mar 2013 04:02:09 AM EST


To check the printer status
[username@hostname ~]$lpstat -a
